Time

I just have a brief moment before I have to go pack for the synchro meet in Winnipeg. I just took some time to reread a few of my old blog posts (from the other blog)... I wrote a lot better a couple of years ago! Haha! I'm glad I have a record of that time in my life though. It's good to be reminded of how God has worked in my life in the past.
I also took some time to read the comments and I'm thinking maybe I should finally put this blog out there for my friends to find...
I am excited/nervous for this weekend. I am going to my first meet alone as in Bobby isn't coming with me. It's just me and Brenna and every other member of the Mermaids that are competing. We're taking a bus and having a team weekend. It should be fun but I'm kinda nervous about not having Bobby with me. We so rarely travel apart from each other. I depend on him for a lot of things and I just like having him there. He is so good at keeping me level. He brings balance to my crazy head... I'm so grateful God put us together. Do you know we rarely go two hours without texting each other... we are just constantly connected. I wonder how my relationship with God would look if I were that connected. Now I'm not saying that Bobby is more important than God.... just easier to connect with in a tangiable way! It would serve me well to tak to God as often as I text my husband. I mean I do talk to God in my head all the time but I could be more intentional about how I am praying, be more specific. I think I may just work on an experiement this weekend while I'm away.... hmmm. I'll let you know how it goes!

I feel like I have written a few blog posts in honour of friends who have passed and sadly I have another. This one is close to my heart and has been percolating for a few days now. It feels sacred somehow and I'm not entirely sure I want to share it just yet so if you read know that for all the missing details and possibly inaccurate ones this is my narrative on what has easily been one of the most abstract and yet important friendships my grown up life. I don't even remember how I stumbled across the Steven Curtis Chapman fan boards but I did. We were a grand group of strangers who became friends. There were so many of us. Grief has visited me once again. And for all the people I have lost in the last 4 years, this one hurts so differently, so deeply. I didn't know that grief could change my taste buds and make me so afraid to close my eyes. I didn't know you could wake up all ready in tears. This is different. This is the pain of loosing someone who isn't old, who isn't sick but who is your own age and who shares your everyday story, This is different some how. In many ways I am still in shock and survival mode. And so I will write because writing is sometimes the only way I can even begin to let go of the pain. I first met Rose when I was dating one of her cousins. I remember how bright and cheerful Rose was at every family gathering. I really wanted to get to know her but back then my world pretty much revolved around 'the boy.' Fast forward quite a few years... Home

The word Home brings so many images to mind, memories, smells, stories. I think it is that way for all of us. Everything we do is about home when you really think about it. We work so we can come home and enjoy our families. We travel but long for home. We raise our kids and send them off and wait for the holidays so they can come HOME. We write songs and stories and create art all about home. Home seems to be at the centre of everything. I think God created us that way for a reason... so we would long for home... for our place with Him. I know not every one believes in a literal heaven and hell and whatever I'm not here to debate that but what I know is that we all long for home all the time we are away from it. I have friends who are waiting so impatiently to bring their baby HOME from the hospital and I rejoice with them that he is finally healthy and strong and ready to take his place in the world.
